Lush Dusty
04:24
|
|||
Lush Dusty got rugged grace
like waterfall shadows and outback shade
lush dusty, ooo lush dusty
She's a whirly wind, I'm a tumbleweed
and she keeps my heart hoppin like a wallaby
Lush dusty, ooooo lush dusty
She's a blue rock on the riverbed
she's a dew drop on a spiderweb
she's a wildcat in the wildflowers
a double rainbow in a midsummer shower
Hair like autumn and a voice like spring
Touch like lightning and butterfly wings
lush dusty ooo lush dusty
She can build a fire in three minutes flat
she can change a tire when we get a flat
she's lush dusty, ooo lush dusty
Cinnamon and honey in her mushroom tea
climbin like koalas in that old gum tree
I love her, and she loves me
it echoes in the canyon when we say koo-eee
Lush Dusty got four wheel drive
she sees the dark emu in the brightblack sky
she's lush dusty oo lush dusty
from the cliffs of Kalbarri to the waves at Gnaraloo
the Kirajini gorges and reefs at Ningaloo
Lush dusty, ooo lush dusty
Cinnamon and honey in her mushroom tea
laughin kukabarras in that paperbark tree
I love her, and she loves me
it echoes in the canyon when we say koo-eee
So give me one more moment I can treasure
And a kiss to tide me over til December
We could hit the road in your Topogee
Live off yabbies and waragul greens
Lush dusty, oo lush dusty
then one day when we're old and gray
we'll buy a caravan and give it a name like
Lush dusty, ooo lush dusty

Wide Open Spaces
04:58
|
|||
It's seemingly simple in this sacred place
stare into the fire or stare deep into space
But how do we choose?
Blossoming inwards with radiant light
Or spiraling outwards into infinite night
But how do we choose?
There's wide open spaces
and silence to fill
with whatever we want
and whatever we will
The half moon is rising and she's got it right
One eye on the sun and one eye on the night
and she don't have to choose
So I lie on my stomach and gaze through the flame
to the night sky above it and suddenly it's all the same
and we don't have to choose
There are wide open spaces
and silence to fill
with whatever we want and whatever we will
If it's a meteor shower or Orion's belt
right here and right now we'll just let ourselves melt
There are wide open spaces and silence to fill
with whatever we want
and whatever we will

When I'm coming down hard like hail stones
braced against the wind
feelin like these ragged ol seagull bones
are breakin through my skin
I got to see you
see you with my naked eyes
This thirst is missin water
and this hunger's missin food
and all this tired's missin sleep
from months of missin you
I got to feel you
feel you with my bare hands
I gotta hear your heart bang up against your rib cage
bursting like a dam
Well I let fate take the whell
now I'm carsick and afraid
jumbled up and jangled as this jar of foreign change
I've got to hear the things
you whisper without words
I've seen the loud lights of Manhattan
from a quiet shore in Queens
reflecting soft and wavy off the Hudson in between
I longed to hold you
hold you in these empty arms
Could you hear my heart bang up against my rib cage
rattle like a subway car?
Now it's a foggy Irish morning
but that sun keeps sliding through
beamin little stars on the blades of grass
and the branches ripe with dew
like tears of joy
hangin off your welcome home
You said, "Play something old and pretty,
'bout a lighthouse or a train,"
then snapped another stick in two
and threw it in the flame
we started singing
Me and Bobby McGee
You were doin Janis, I was doin Kris
and we were livin in the 70s
I gotta hear your heart bang up against your rib cage
Can I hear your heart bang up against your rib cage?
Burstin like a dam

Ambulance
02:57
|
|||
I want you to give me a ride in your Ambulance
you're my defibirulator
You are my second chance
You are my ambulance
I had to find someone to resuscitate me
dialled 9-1-1 and you arrived
you strapped me to your stretcher
and threw me inside
Thank God I had your number memorized
you are my second chance
You are my ambulance
Put on my mask
Turn on the gas
flip on your siren
and drive real fast
Give me a ride
In your Ambulance
You shined your light in my eager eyes
you took my pulse, it started to rise
You said, "Honey, is it still hurting?"
I felt my strength returning
You are my second chance
You are my ambulance
And when the driver said that we'd arrived
I said I'd like one more ride
Give me a ride
in your ambulance
Put on my mask
Turn on the gas
flip on your siren
and drive...

Howl Along
03:54
|
|||
When I'm how-o-wow-o-wowlin
at the moon
you never tell me that I'm out of tune
you just howl along
owwooooo oo ooo
And when it's so damn cold that these rivers freeze
and the wind is howlin like a coyote
we'll just howl along
owooo--ooo-oooo
You got no idea how long
I been waitin for a woman
who could howl along
I wanna run to the park
and roll in the grass
I wanna wag my tail
and sniff your ass
while you howl along
I always thought I had to make a choice
between love and freedom
then I heard your voice
when you howled along
ooo-woo-ooo-oooo
you got no idea how long
I been waitin for a woman
who could how-oo-oww--oo-owl along

A Couple More Below
02:49
|
|||
If it were just a couple more below
maybe all this rain would turn to snow
maybe all this gray would turn to dazzling white and gold
If it were just a couple more below
On New Years' Eve it's summer down in Melbourne
We were floating down the Murray late last year
Now ragged raindrops race across my windshield
And seem to trace the way I wound up here
The whisky makes me run through all the ways
All the ways I probably should have stayed
I coulda done a run to Indonesia
Come back on a tourist visa
but that would only buy us ninety days
We fought of sleep to hold eachother tight
you helped me zip my duffle bag
and drove me to the flight
Time it goes all funny
it freezes and it flies
then fades away like your
two tail lights
Crazy if we do
Crazy if we don't

Eating spanish persimmons
and watching the pigeons
sittin on statues of saints
One kid's got breadcrumbs
he's trying to feed em
one keeps on chasing em away
Once on the hour
the bells in their towers
sing to eachother and sway
along with the pigeons
who circle in rhythm
all turquoise and purple and gray
Maybe I'll go now
Maybe I'll stay
I'm a little confused
but it ain't quite the blues
It's turquoise and purple and gray
I lean on a lamp post
and watch an old hobo
strummin his gut string guitar
Some people throw him their
loose bits of change
some save their change
for the bar
I know his song and I'm singing along
"Mi corazon tu rompiste"
His eye finds my eye
as he lands on a rhyme
and it's turquoise and purple and gray
Maybe I'll go now
Maybe I'll stay
I ain't really broken
it's more like a bruise
turnin turquoise and purple and gray
Maybe I'll kick it
Maybe I'll get on my way
I ain't really broken
it's more like a bruise
turning turqoise
and purple
and gray

Old Dr Robinson had a lovely young wife
and a garden full of daffodils
Young Alison wanted to quit her cigarettes
She got a recommendation from her friend Elizabeth
who said, "Alison dear, you've got to try this clever hypnotist.
I used to weigh one hundred and five
and now I'm sixty six."
Old Dr Robinson had a lovely young wife
and a garden full of daffodils
Dr. Robinson made a cup of lavendar tea
He handed it to young Alison and said, "Please take a seat."
He swung his ticking tocking clock and whispered slow and sweet
and tip-toed with young Alison up to the edge of sleep
Old Dr Robinson had a lovely young wife
and a garden full of daffodils
Old Dr. Robinson rang his bell
And Alison awakened from his hazy dazy spell
And suddenly the very thought of cigarettes made her ill
She also had the strangest urge
to plant some daffodils

I Am Never There
03:40
|
|||
I guess I should've learned by now
to never smoke my ex's drugs
I got too close to the lighter
and set my hair on fire
Woodzy just quit the band
I told him that I understand
but god damn man
I miss our jams
and cruisin in your van
It's everywhere I've ever been
But I am never there
I guess I should've learned by now
To never smoke my ex's drugs
Cuz now the voices on the wall
are shoutin
"You still suck at love."
But baby, I'll be leavin soon
March and April, May then June
Then it's bon appetit
and bon voyage
I'll be chasin down a new mirage
To everywhere I'll ever be
But I am never there
I worry that when I get old
the only stories that I tell
are gonna be the ones I'm told
that I've memorized so well
One thing you gotta understand
about this travelin man
Is I'm never gonna stay
cuz if I wanna see it all
I gotta leave it all one day
It's everywhere I've ever been
It's everywhere I'll ever be
It's everywhere
It's everywhere
But I am never there

The Dogons have a secret religion from the stars
A phenomenon of rarity that tells us who we are
On a spinning whirling rocket egg that landed in the sand
A puddle grew around it drawing water from the land
and from that liquid desert a strange creature emerged
amphibious and hideous it told them without words
We are the Nommos, we'll show you how to be
We'll share with you our secrets, if you will share your sea
The knowledge of the universe is here inside my heart
Astronomy, geometry, and every kind of art
But if you want this wisdom, you have to eat my flash
Then it hacked itself to pieces and the Dogons did the rest
We are the Nommos, we'll show you how to be
We'll share with you our secrets, if you will share your sea
And like the rings of Saturn, and the moons of Jupiter
the Dogon minds were spinning round
the axis of the Universe
The Nommo resurrected and dove into the sea
the Mothership came with it
there are Nommo's in the deep
And the Nommos all are waiting
for the oceans all to rise
To swallow up humanity
and claim its final prize
We are the Nommos
we'll show you how to be
we'll share with your our secrets
So we can take your sea

Flippity Phone
03:14
|
|||
I know a woman with a flippity phone
she flips it open every now and then
most of the time it is unflipped in her pocket
especially when she's out with friends
Sometimes I cannot get a hold of her flippity phone
but i know it's cuz she's in the zone
she's got a flip flip flippity flip
woman with the flippity phone
we went out walkin to a waterfall
everybody takin beautiful pics
but that flippy phone woman
she just took off her pants
and started dancing in the mist
she was a whirlin and a twirlin with the water drops
a little smile across her lips
yeah flippy phone woman
she can really dig it
while everyone's just gettin the gist
Flip flip flippity phone
flip flippity phone
everybody's got half their minds in their pockets
Not the woman with the flippity phone
We were on the tram it was real jammed
and she gave an old woman her seat
she started talkin bout the weather, then about the music,
then about the 70s
twenty minutes later we heard the operator say
"Next stop, Southern Cross"
She turned to the woman and said
"Shit, Maggie, you made me miss my stop"
Flip flip flippity phone
flip flippity phone
everybody's got half their minds in their pockets
Not the woman with the flippity phone
It's never out of batteries
and the screen never breaks
one time i stole it out of her purse
and i beat her high score in snake
it wasn't even that high in the first place
Flip flip flippity phone
flip flippity phone
Give her a call, there's nobody home
the woman with the flippity phone
Some people ask her how she gets around
without any of these apps
she says she always knows which way is north
and she kinda memorized the map
Every now and then she gets a little bit lost
but she always turns up laughin
with a, "Hey guys, sorry I'm late,
but you won't believe what happened."
